Dog Grooming Courses

Dog Grooming Courses

Dogs Delight was established and is owned by Julie Lalou, who is a City & Guilds 7750/3 qualified professional groomer and is working towards obtaining the City and Guilds 7303 in teaching.

We are a Satellite PCT City & Guilds Dog grooming training Centre which means we will shortly be offering the PCT City & Guilds 7750 - 02 Intermediate.

Under expert guidance, you can explore the various skills required for grooming dogs whether for a future professional career, or just simply for the pleasure and satisfaction.

A relaxed and comfortable learning environment is encouraged, where students feel free to ask questions as they learn.

The training concentrates on a very much hands on approach, where students are encouraged to work and learn at their own pace.

We offer four different courses:

One paw course

One Paw Dog Grooming Course
Duration:

1 day (10.30-15.30)
(pet owner or 1-day trial)

Course Prices:

£150

A course specially designed for pet owners to learn to groom their own breed or to enable students considering the longer courses to get a feel for the work and a greater understanding of grooming before entering into a commitment.

For pet owners this will enable them to leave with the confidence to groom their pets. For students, although the limitation of just one-day imposes a restriction on the depth of tuition, they will carry out enough practical work, under professional instruction, to get a fair idea of the involvement needed.

All overalls and equipment supplied.
All students will receive handouts and before and after pictures.

Two paw course

Two Paw Dog Grooming Course
Duration:

6 days, Mon - Sat, 10:30-16.00

Course Prices:

£1000

This course will enable students to cover the basics of grooming with plenty of practical involvement, whilst also participating in the day-to-day running of a busy grooming parlour.

Each enrolled "2 Paw" Course student will receive the " personal equipment pack " which includes a comprehensive array of professional grooming tools and other items (see below) considered essential to the Course tuition. Students are encouraged to use the equipment supplied in their packs; all other equipment is available in the grooming parlour.

Tuition covers the handling of dogs correctly and safely, how to brush out and de-matt the coat, and which tools to use. Bathing, shampoo selection and drying techniques are covered. Ear cleaning, nail clipping and teeth cleaning are covered in full. Students are also taught to recognise health problems.

Hands-on experience of clipping, scissoring, hand stripping and styling is provided on a selection of the different breeds frequently visiting the salon, all of these are covered by observations, practical, hands on experience, and handouts.

This course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in grooming whether it be working for someone else in a busy grooming parlour, mobile, in their own home or even for established groomers seeking to update their knowledge and grooming techniques. This course provides the basic and general knowledge required and offers the student a wide range of practical experience with a variety of breeds.

Each enrolled student will receive a personal equipment pack which includes a comprehensive array of professional grooming tools and other items considered essential to the Course tuition. The use of clippers and hands-on experience of clipping, scissoring and styling of various breeds as well as cross breeds.

Cleaning, sterilising and the maintenance of equipment are all dealt with in considerable depth. First aid for animals is covered, e.g. heat stroke, burns, scalds, fits, stings, heart attack, shock, haemorrhages and wounds. Information on major dog diseases, their control, and how to prevent disease spreading through the grooming parlour, form part of the course curriculum.
